Huge stash buster!

scrap afghan

This is what I have been working on and has been a giant time suck,I couldn't take myself away from it, but has also taken up a couple thousand yards of stash. The brown in between color rows took up almost 3 super saver skeins that are 364 yards each.It is big enough to cover the top of our queen sized bed. All of the color rows are scrap balls so I don't know how many yards in all.The yarn I made this out of filled up a laundry basket. I still have well over 1/2 left over.

I'm giving this afghan to my friend Marci. It was her birthday on April 9 so I'm a little late. She was born a hippy, she will love this!

I have started another scrap afghan ,left overs from the other blanket, making panels and when there done I'll be crocheting them together. :)
I don't know who I'll gift the next one to. I'm trying to clear out to get some more room in here!!!

I started a baby sweater on size 1's with baby ull in pale purple and pink with white ribbing. It is so tiny and cute! I found out another girl at work is pregnant so add her to the list of 4+ people who are expecting that I know.

I worked on the c-2-c blanket today. I finished the last skein of yellow. 1 more green and it will be time to work an edging. I think a baby sweater and blanket for each is good. Maybe a pair of baby socks. Or a hat. I love babies!

Dear Cranky old lady,

I do not give a rats ass that you waited 17 minutes (more like 10) on the phone today while I had a line out to soft lines before I could get to you. I don't care if you want to "Give me a talking to" when you come in for your $4.80 that you were overcharged on your reduced bakery items. For the record I'm not a "Young lady" you bitch and you can shove those cinnamon rolls up your ass. I hope you choke on them.

So you don't have stuff

This title is inspired by my brother in law Greg that I was talking with on Monday night. Me in reference to some fabric I had found in my stash: "I have so much stuff I don't know what I have anymore." Greg in rebuttal: "So you don't have stuff, you have shit" Me: "Basically".

I have been cleaning out my fabric, finding the stuff I've forgotten and cutting it up for my sister for her birthday because she loves to sew, but doesn't have the time to cut up all the squares.A lot of this stuff I still like, but not love enough to keep in the stash.I found the fabric I was collecting for a double wedding ring quilt.I really want to go to the fabric store next week, but I think I'll put it off for another week, and if I'm good I'll get to go. It's almost an hour drive to the good quilt shop (the one that doesn't think all young people are evil) so it has to be a pay week. There's a yarn shop on the way and they have some cool sock yarn I want to try.I need to cut up a few more yards tonight and tomorrow. I'm trying to keep the fabric stash confined to it's tote,it's overflowing a bit right now. Must beat it back!

I'm 2/3 of the way done with my scrap afghan. Not nearly enough yarn is gone. :(
I'll be doing at least 3 more of these hopefully this year. I have started a tessellating fish afghan for my nephew for Christmas '08. His favorite color is orange, so this blanket is orange and yellow goldfish! I had to buy the yarn $20 on 10 skeins of bernat softee chunky. I will need more yellow. I think I'll get 3 fish out of one skein. I've knit 2, they take about 45 minutes each.

I received the elusive Trekking color 100 that I have been wanting for 3 years now.

I also received some pencil roving and some lace weight that SMELLS SO GOOD!!!

I have been playing with the Dots blanket pattern in the newest spring Interweave Crochet.

I completed a dishcloth yesterday at the laundromat and started another.

The corner to corner blanket is banished to the corner for being boring. Not the blankets fault. I just need to get some good movies going.

I have been experimenting with dying yarn with easter egg dye. I've done 2 skeins and they have turned out well. I'm knitting a scarf with them alternating skeins and it looks awesome.

I haven't touched the sock since I blogged last.

I think I'm going to knit another fish...

What I'm acually going to do:

Knit another burp cloth.
finish the c-2-c baby blanket
use 2 skeins from the stash
10 squares for one of my afghans

The c-2-c blanket itself is going to take forever!
I've also started a garter stitch afghan out of old stash acrylic, not sure if it will be panels or log-cabin-esque.

Adding a few more things

I realize today, that I may have made it a bit to easy on my self last night.Last night I ripped the ripple, and crochet 10 squares for my cotton granny. The burp cloth is less than 5" from completion. That only leaves 2 things left, both could be finished within the week. The point is for it to last for 3 weeks until the next pay check comes around.
So I add (complete list) :
Finish current socks,I'm on the foot of the first one.
Make 2 somethings off my ravelry queue.
Make 10 more squares for one of my afghans.
Knit another burp cloth.
Cast on for Sprout, an Amy King design in stashed cotton ease.
finish the 1/2 finished c-2-c baby blanket
knit 4 washcloths

I'm back to trying to pair down the cotton stash. Soon it will be summer and small things will take over the big. So I'll be trying to knit one wash cloth a week again. The burp clothes are being knit from a cone of peaches 'n cream. I think I can get at least 3 out of the cone. Then maybe I'll pair up some of my solids and make some stripy cloths, because knitting plain dish cloths boars me to tears, and I don't know why knowing this I bought them anyway.I have a cone of ecru, and about 6 skeins of different solids, so that's a lot of burp cloths!I like the pattern because it's simple enough to do while reading, watching tv etc. but interesting enough to not make you want to throw it in the river if your knitting it just to be knitting.
It is really nice out today, I have the screen door open for the first time in months airing out the apartment. I got my laundry done for the week, had a latte and knit on my socks waiting at the laundromat watching the price of gas go up. It is now $3.27 per gallon. Glad I filled up yesterday at $3.23 . :(
The hubby and I have been car pooling, thank god we work at the same place and relatively the same hours or we would be very broke. Hence my wip/stash obsession until I can buy new yarn. That and I get my yearly raise starting April 2nd, so I really want to treat myself with that first check and not feel guilty about it.
After I finish my list I figure I've used approximately $60 worth of yarn, so I can spend that much, maybe. I'm hoping to way over shoot my goal. After all I do have 3 weeks and a lot of those projects only take a day or so...

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

So tired!

But I do have progress! I have knit almost half a corner to corner baby blanket using lion brand cupcake in lemon drop and pistachio. I also exchanged some yarn today to make a miter blanket for the couch. I'll need tons more, but 10 skeins will give me a good start. I'm using bazic wool in 10 colors. I have also knit more than half of a baby genius burp cloth. I should finish that tomorrow...
I have plenty of progress, but no FO's. Maybe next week. I did really good for about a week knitting on the c-2-c faithfully, as well as my sock (currently on the gusset), then I started the BGBC, and all hell broke loose, and I haven't touched it in a few days now.
I want to order some of the new colors of sock yarn from Knit Picks, like 5 of them.
First I MUST:
Finish c-2-c blanket
finish burp cloth
crochet 10 more squares for one of my blankets.
knit 4 more dish cloths.
rip the cotton ripple

There, 5 goals for 10 skeins of yarn, that's not to unreasonable to do before ordering new yarn. And it will give me time to save the money needed in like 2 paychecks. No ramen for me!

all that goes on

I was so busy this weekend, I hardly knit a stitch on monday, tuesday I hit it hard finishing those 2 projects, today I had an appointment, but thankfully it brought me close to a yarn store to pick up the dpns for my sleeves on the malabrigo sweater. In this adventure of making up a seam less sweater, I have discovered that 2 circs are NOT for me.It's starting to get nice here and I swear if it kills me I will wear it before summer hits.
I've knit about 6" on the first sleeve, and will continue to knit it exclusively at home until it's finished.
I'm on the toe of the sock. I will finish it tomorrow at work. Simply because the sweater is way to huge to take anywhere, except to haul up on my lap to work on.
I bought some real nice hand dyed sock yarn there. I should shop there more, they have some great indie yarn that is FABULAS!
My aunt gave me a sweaters worth of Kona bay knitting yarn 75% acrylic,15%alpaca,10% nylon.I'm going to make Thermal from knitty once I've finished the malabrigo sweater. It is a pretty grape color.I love it!

Finished!

Finished the acrylic hoodie, ran out of yarn for the hood, so it's a not-so-hoodie, still looks cool and is totally wearable.

Also finished is this quickie scarf for a friend. I felt like knitting with broom sticks and rope IE size 17 needles and bulky yarn. This was just the ticket!

I got an e-mail, the order has shipped, I'm 20 rows from the toe. Will I make it? Only time will tell!

Beat Sheri

I placed an order with the Loopy Ewe tonight. 2 Sekina needles superwash merino rovings, and a couple pairs worth of sock yarn and some needle protectors. $76 total.
So heres the challenge, finish these socks:

cherry coke socks

Before my order gets here! Can my socks beat Sheri to the post office?
Will I get distracted by the malabrigo that just came in today to finish my sweater?
Will I stop and make millions of yo-yos until my fingers bleed from some awesome scraps sent to me by Sugarmagknowya ?
Only time will tell...

Reset the clock

I reset for 100 days because I want a fresh start. This is not a hard 100 days, IE it can change at any time.
I purchased 4 skeins on malabrigo today. That will be my last purchase for at least a month. I want to finish the sweater I bought yarn for tonight (I just cast it on), my socks (1 sock to go) and that denim baby jacket I got yarn for about 2 years ago?? Longer? Maybe? I started the sleeve last night.
I just feel guilty, because I want more and I just can't afford it. So if I use what I have maybe I'll feel better later and be able to justify an afghans worth later this year.
I finished those 2 things yesterday. As well as that ever lovin' cotton baby blanket a week or so ago. I'm still waiting on the yarn for the rest of my first malabrigo sweater.Once that is done and I can wear it I'll feel a lot better.
I started a child's hoodie out of stash yarn and I have the back completed.
I also want to crochet a blanket with some good will cotton I picked up last summer to clean out that tote. I want to simplify and stream line my yarn to what I actually want to knit and not just because it was on sale or cheep.
Some days I look at my yarn and think "Am I going to be able to knit all this, and do I really want to?". Yes I do. I really do. I have plans for most of my yarn. Very little doesn't have a project pegged. It's just a matter of getting to it, and that means working my way threw the stash. Making those long awaited projects come to life and enjoy them and not just the idea of them.Fighting off Startitis while going threw the stash will be hard.Tomten was the last thing off the needles from last falls bout and I really hate cleaning up after it.Although I fear it's already started.
Projects in the works right now are my new malabrigo sweater, the acrylic hoodie, the lace scarf, the socks and the denim baby jacket. The log cabin blanket and babette get worked on in spurts,as well as the dish cloths and the left over cotton blanket. I want to start Serenity in lake cotton ease I have in my stash but I will wait until the acrylic hoodie is finished.I need to see if I have the correct needles for Serenity.

Knitting superstitions!

Did you know about these knitting superstitions:
1.It's bad luck to leave a project unfinished. The intended recepient will get bad luck from the unfinished item.
2.Stabbing your needles though your yarn balls brings bad luck to anyone who wears something made from that yarn.

3.Don't knit a pair of socks for your boyfriend or he'll walk away from you. He'll walk away but will he walk back? It might be an effective way to rid yourself of a pest.

4.If you knit one of your own hairs into a garment, it will bind the recipient to you.

5.Knitting for children you may have in the future, but before you are pregnant, is bad luck (it may prevent one from getting pregnant, or bring ill health to the baby).

6.Don't stop knitting when you are only on the cast-on row, or the project will never be finished. At least now I have something to blame all those UFO's on

7.Cast-on for your next project immediately after finishing one. It's bad luck for your needles to be empty. No problem there

8.When knitting a pair of socks, the second sock must be started immediately after casting off the first and finishing the first must be postponed until the knitter has time to cast-off, and cast-on the next sock at the same sitting.

9.Knitting as a voodoo doll -- ripping out your knitting while picturing someone you don't like is a way to "hex" them.

10. Never HAND knitting needles to a friend, they can stab the friendship. Put them down and let the friend pick them up. How many of us are guilty of stabbing a friend? At least now we know.

The 2 claret and 2 mustard are for my b-i-l's blanket. The 2 coffee are for my sisters afghan. 1 skein cotton tots for a boarder on the wretched cotton tots blanket that pills if you look at it wrong.I will never use this yarn again. 6 skeins dish cloth cotton.1 N sized crochet hook and a Patons booklet with an awesome cabled sweater in it.

Red hart super saver $4 for 2 skeins, Vannas choice $5 for 2 skeins, Sugar and cream $5 for 4 skeins. Claret and Mustard are the perfect combo for 49ers colors!

Mission possable '08

I joined over on Ravelry here's my list:

1: Tomten needs a sleeve
2: corner to corner baby blanket 1/2 way done
3: crochet child’s sweater for charity using left over red heart sport , started yesterday
4-6: pledged magic 28 socks not started yet
7: my socks in mini raggi , 1 sock to go
8: pillow & afghan set for Amber , christmas '08 not started yet
9: scrap afghan not started yet will be a Christmas gift
10: k1,p1 shadows scarf
11: soy stripes scarf
12: giant granny, could end off at any time
13: figure out an afghan to do with the 9 skeins of red heart classic I have sitting beside me, will probably be a Christmas present

I'm working on the shoulders on the front of my sweater,I will have those done before bed. Back probably finished tomorrow, then I'll connect and do the collar and maybe start a sleeve if I have any left over. Then it's a waiting game for the rest of the yarn!

Frozen freakin' tundra outside!

Yesterday it was 50 degrees and sunny. It was WARM the snow was melting, the squirrels were barking (long story). Today it is 20 degrees below zero, 4" of snow (at least) thats blowing so that you can't see crap. My sweater is at 15" now and I'm wishing it was finished. Today would be the day I needed it the most this winter so far.
I have started Bradys Christmas blanket. I'm doing a knit basket weave middle, then I plan on crocheting around it until it's big enough for him. It's orange, his most favorite color.

Knitting away

Progress!
I almost have another skein in on the Malabrigo sweater, it is about 12" long right now. I'm about 1/2 way done with another washcloth. I finished the knitting and seaming on the baby kimono, now it just needs buttons! I crochet 16 more blocks for Babette. 10 more of the 2 row squares and I'll be done with the 2 row squares, I'm crocheting the smallest first and working my way up.I hope to have Babette finished by the end of June. No more progress on the log cabin blanket. I have Saturday off so I'm expecting a lot of progress this weekend on various things.I want to crochet more of my dish cloth cotton squares, but it's the same style square as the Babette, and because Babette is more on a time line, I want to get that finished first.
I found a 1/2 finished giant granny afghan in the cubby. I don't know if I'll rip it or finish it. I'll probably rip it. :)
My sister Shirley says "No more blankets" so that takes 2 afghans off my list. I would like to make a blanket for my b-i-l in 49ers colors, if I have time. It is really at the bottom of the list.

Consider this my fall off

I got some malabrigo yarn at my lys with a gift card and didn't realize it wouldn't be enough for a sweater until I got home. So I got online and purchased 4 more skeins as well as 2 skeins in 2 other colors for scarfs for Christmas or me I'll decide when they get here. I can't keep affording to do this. This has just gotten out of hand. I might need to extend the yarn diet, I'll do a recount after the days are up and see just how bad I was. I'm on dishcloth #7 and I used 2 balls on the baby kimono so thats 9 balls, so I'm twice my goal +1 in that respect. That makes me feel a bit better..
I have cast on for the malabrigo sweater, and I'm 5 inches in, working circular to the armpits, then dividing for the front and back using the EZ's percentage method. I'm hoping I'll have used the skeins I have before the other yarn gets here. I do have an extra day off in February, so I'm hoping to have it up to the arms by then. This thing is going to come everywhere with me. Including work, until it's finished. We have been having -5 and below temperatures all week and I think that made me cry out for a 100% wool sweater. The colors are amazing and it's SO SOFT! Like cloud soft. It is insane that anything can be this soft. I love it, and it shall be my down fall....

I don't know what to knit...

I'm in a bit of a slump. On the needles: Baby Kimono, need more yarn, socks, 2 rows in to the second sock just can't get motivated, 1/2 a dish cloth done should knock that out tonight, but I don't feel like it. That's it for the small stuff. In my searching I've crochet 6 squares for Devyns log cabin blanket today bringing my total so far up to 12. I need more yarn in 2 colors for blocks and probably a brown to put them all together.
I would like to knit some doll clothes. I'm thinking of getting some of those nekkid dolls at Michaels to knit for, then give them away for Christmas.
I'm tired and I don't know what I want to do.... I might start a pair of doll socks.Or maybe a scarf....

But all the yarn I got was cleared threw my rules. I got 2 skeins of Vannas choice for my nephews Christmas blanket and 1 skein Lion brand wool for socks for Warm Woolies. My main charity project for this year.
Theres a book store going out of business and I got an awesome new Journal for 50% off and the new "Son of stitch and bitch" from Debbie Stoller for 25% off. As well as a pack of Rudolph cards for 75% off. I have another dish cloth almost finished, and I have started a Heartbreakingly cute baby Kimono with 2 matching skeins of dish cloth cotton I found in the stash, thus adding another item to my hope chest and trying a pattern I've seen everywhere and wanted to knit forever and reducing the dish cloth cotton stash even more! That's a lot of accomplishment for 1 project. :)

Questionare

http://dishclothexchange.blogspot.com/2008/01/questionnaire.html

1. Do you knit, crochet, or do both? Both

2. What types of needles do you enjoy using for making dishcloths? I use my size 4 metal straights I got from Goodwill forever ago.

3. What types of cotton do you enjoy using for making dishcloths? Is there any that you've been wanting to try? I use your standard Peaches 'n Cream/sugar 'n cream

4. What color(s) are your kitchen and bath decorated in (if any)? Blue for the bathroom theres kind of a fish theme going on there. Not really anything going on in the kitchen.

5. What are your favorite colors for yarns? Least favorite? I like BRIGHT colors, '80's florescent colors! but really anything is fine. Not to big a fan of brown or black.

6. Do you like Winter, or do you count the days until it ends? I HATE winter. I just can't wait until it ends!

7. What's your favorite way to brighten your day when you're down in the dumps? Drink a latte with a friend while knitting and watching movies.

8. What is your favorite treat to indulge in and when your down in the dumps? Vanilla latte and any kind of chocolate muffin/cookie combo

9. Do you drink coffee? Tea? Cocoa? Coffee and coco I don't care for tea at all

10. If you could take a vacation starting tomorrow and go anywhere for one week and money were no object, where would you go and what would you do? Ireland to study the knitting culture and history. I'd probably need a lot more than a week..

11. Do you have any allergies or aversions your pal should be aware of? Oddly enough, big red gum gives me the hives but I don't think that is a problem with this swap!

Skein 14

I just started skein 14 of 18 on Britts blanket.I have to admit I'm getting kind of bored with it.I'm forcing myself to work on it. My goal is 3 skeins a week. I'm on my second skein for this week so I'm not doing that bad. I will admit that I started Bradys ripple last night and I have just started the 3rd skein.I think I'm going to need more yarn for his, but I'm going to use what I have first and see, although I'm pretty sure I will.I may hold off even though yarn to finish projects is allowed, and start Aryns ripple after I finish the yarn I have for Bradys because I want to play with more colors. Not to mention, variety is the spice of life! I'm using Bumpy doinks pattern: http://bumpydoink.blogspot.com/2007/06/my-ripple-pattern.html
It makes a big enough blanket to fit across your bed without having to do any math.
I love it!
I normally can't get a ripple to work (this is my first successful attempt) so if your interested in crocheting one and haven't before I highly recommend this pattern.

Feeling icky

I didn't go to work today, that's how bad it was.
I have been laying in bed knitting for most the day. I knit a short row baby hat, a pair of preemie booties and a few rows on the sleeve of long neglected tomten.I will finish it this year.I will!
I also would like to finish the wash cloth that is exactly 1/2 finished sitting beside the bed, but as long as my fancy is for tomten I think I better ride it out for as long as it lasts, given it's history.
I'm now 10 skeins in on Brits blanket 8 more to go!

That's all for now I guess,

I have delved into my dish cloth cotton stash and produced these:

2 down 38 more to go!At approx 95 yards a skein that's 190 yards out of my 1000 yard goal for January.I want to knit at least 1 dish cloth a week until my dish cloth cotton is GONE. I myself think 38 skeins of dish cloth cotton a little foolish even if I do make them to sell.I'm knitting a 3rd as I'm typing this. I tend to go on sprees where I knit nothing but wash cloths for months on end.I'm hoping this is what this is.It would sure help!
I'm 9 skeins in on Brittneys blanket, 9 more to go! I'm 1/2 way there!Whoot!
I haven't set down and worked on it really, but I want to have it done by the end of the month.
I've also dug out the Babette blanket that will be for Briana next Christmas.
I have 24 of the 50 small grannys done. This may accompany me to work one day.We will see.
I've joined Secret of the stole 2, I've never knit lace before of any kind so this will be fun!
I have pegged the Lagoon yarn for a pair of crochet house socks, but I want to finish Brittneys blanket before I start them.

As of midnight my yarn diet goes into effect. 100 days , no yarn, the 08' KO is exempt of course.
Here is the yarn I got off ebay "Lagoon" merino super wash from EY hand paints:

Photobucket

I also bought 6 skeins of Vannas Choice to coordinate with some I have for afghans for Christmas next year and.... 6 skeins of dish cloth cotton. I'm addicted! But the good news is, is that this is how I'm bringing in the new year:

Photobucket

Knitting quietly at home listening to the new episode of cast on. I have to work tomorrow so there will be no partying for me, at least not tonight.
I'm getting tired of knitting socks for awhile. I may replace them with dish cloths for awhile.Lord knows that I can't buy anymore for at least the 100 days if not more.

Happy new years!

You know what's really nice???

When someone asks you to make and pay for an item that you already have 1/2 finished in a bin in the closet! This post is the pro side of having many UFOS hid in the closet!
My sisters MIL asked me to make a baby blanket for a baby boy due in March. I have a lime green and blue mile a minute blanket over half done.I pulled it out, I need to re-do the edging on 2 strips and add a boarder to 1.Then I will have 10 completed strips,I'm guessing I'll need 16 for the completed blanket.I'm thinking I can do over this week and have it finished by the new year. These things go fast and are small enough to take to work in my knitting bag! I love knitting socks but after the "com socks" it's time for something different for awhile. I think I'll only charge $20 for the blanket just to add to the sweater/yarn fund. It's acrylic, it's small and totally a WIP as well as stash buster.
Right now I'm working on Britts blanket.I only really work on it while listing to the knit picks podcasts that I discovered 3 days ago.I'm on episode #28 of 30 so far. I know.I think if I segment projects to certain activities ,or podcasts, they will get more time in the project rotation. But I won't make myself not work on something if I'm really into it. That's just discouraging progress.
Anyway, I'm almost on skein 7 of 18 of the blanket.I have emptied a tote to put finished Christmas items.Next Christmas I will be taking the hand made challenge, and be doing my best to stick with it.
TTYL

Goals for the new year...

...and the process thus far:
Photobucket
Brittneys blanket (5 colors in already!)
Devyns blanket (1 block done, need more yarn)
My blanket (Started Wool Ease)
Aryns blanket (Vannas Choice)
Bradys blanket (Ripple Vannas Choice)
Brianas blanket (Pink Vannas Choice)
scarfs (STASH)
8 pairs Mittins (Sheep shots mittin blitz)
8 pairs of wool socks (warm woolies)
Hats (STASH)
20 Wash cloths (no more new cotton yarn until tote is empty!)
Ripple (cotton ease)
1 pair of socks a month
Sample afghan from Vannas Heartfelt book

All but 2 of those projects I have the yarn for already.I wonder how many thousands of yards that is. I have My afghan and Brittneys afghan in my projects on ravelry and I think just between those 2 are over 4000 yards them selfs.
So now you see why I truly need a stash diet...

Presants!

Ok, so I got my order from theloopyewe.com today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how fast they were! I ordered on thursday it would have been here saturday, but I slept threw the mail man!
So here is what I got:
Photobucket

2 skeins of the Kaffe Fasset Regia, 2 skeins Lornas laces in Vera (Firefly fans will get that one) and a skein of Opal Neon in what I'm calling the Valentines day color way. It's red and pink and orange and to me it just screams construction paper hearts!Oh yea, and 1 skein of Jitterbug in Popsicle.

oh yea, and for that scarf up there in the corner? That would be my pay it forward from Norma of http:nownormaknits.typepad.com fame!
Here it is wrapped:
Photobucket

It is made from Noro silk Garden and is soft as I don't even know!
It is in similar colors as the Alpaca scarf I wear most days, and goes very well with the full-length leather coat my aunt gave me.
It will be well used, because we got a whole bunch of that cold white stuff yesterday. This is the view from my front door:

Photobucket

Do you see him? How about now?:
Photobucket
He's not even 6 feet from me and totally calm. In the summer the squirrels come right up to the door. The view is the one good thing being in this apartment building...
Anyway, I also got a $25 gift card to my LYS and $20 cash. The money will be going to my sweater fund. I'm planning on making Celtic Dreams next winter. Wish me luck. Oh, and by the way, does anyone know of a good heathered superwash that makes cables pop??

I want to blog more

I really do, but my work schedule does not allow for it. I mean, I could blog at after midnight, but after a hard days work I just don't feel that inspired.
I made something that I can't tell you until tomorrow but it is SO cute! You'll love it.
I'm at the middle of the foot of the second sock of the commissioned socks. I knit nothing but those for almost a week. I just seam to want them done and I'm willing to be exclusive to do it. That is rare, fore I am such a project, for lack of a better term, Harlot.

So I finished that and started a Whatsit from my Ravelry queue. Useing left over red heart sport from the stash.
I'm 1/2 way down the head already. I'm hoping to have it finished soon.
Thus semi begins the Ravelry queue purging and the stash purging.
I ripped the Wool ease sweater, hated the neck, and started a granny blanket with it. It will be black with stripes of red and yellow. It will be big and it will all be from the stash. That alone will empty 1 semi large bin.
Thats all for now. ttyl

Craft diet finalized

Ok, I think I finally know what I want to do. I am going to go 100 days without buying yarn starting Jan 1st 2008.
Loosely fallowing Wendy knits guidelines, sock yarn and dish cloth cotton doesn't count, as well as buying more yarn to finish a project. 1 day a month is open for stash enhancement.
My goals are simple, to deplete the stash as much as possible. Finish more of my wips. Start and hopefully finish some of the bigger projects I have yarn for.I really want to empty some of my bins!
I have started a top down sweater, I'm hoping this will take up all my black wool ease.
I also want to make a second Tiramisu blanket out of some mystery cotton from Goodwill after I finish this one. Each Tiramisu blanket takes about 1035 yards of yarn. Great stash buster!
I also want to work my way threw my Ravelry (knittyauntie) queue. It mostly involves small crochet/knit toys that I want to make out of my old acrylic stash. As well as some scarfs and baby clothes. So that is what I'm going to do. I hope the quick turn over of small projects in my queue will keep me interested enough to not want to buy yarn. I know I have more than enough yarn to keep my occupied over the course of my yarn diet. :)

100 days

I was listening to stash and burn last night and they have done well on there yarn diet. I was just wondering, could I make it 100 days with out buying yarn?
I don't know, but I can sure try! As on Jan 1st I am going to try to make it with out buying yarn for 100 days. This does not include sock yarn, because we all know that sock yarn doesn't count,as well as dish cloth cotton but I'm going to try to keep that as a minimum.
I'm losely fallowing the Wendy knits guidelines for yarn dieting found here: http://wendyknits.net/stash2007.htm
Ok, I guess I'm going to sign off for a second time. TTYL

The Tiramisu blanket will take at least 5 maybe more.I'm addicted to this blanket. I can't put it down I'm already 1+ skeins in about 10 inches.I'm thinking it will be rectangular and I'm going to maybe alter the edging to be more gender neutral. I think it looks a little bit girly, but I'm reserving judgment until the end.
But it is going so quickly, I've maybe worked on this for 3 hours and I'm this far in.
I have been working on this while doing my favorite thing: Listening to podcasts and watching flickr sideshows of yarn and projects.
I really want to knit a pair of fuzzy feet. That would be 2 more skeins, and a pair of fingerless gloves, that's one more.I gave away 2 more skeins last wensday, a scarf 2 skeins of the caron simply soft shadows, 2 skeins patons sws for another scarf, 3 full skeins and 3 partial skeins for my garter scarf. That's just what I can see from sitting here on the bed looking around. Then I think I can justify the sweaters worth of Cascade 220 superwash.

Cast on!

I've been good about finishing stuff lately , so I have allowed myself to start something new.A pair of socks that I'm being payed to knit I just started the cuff on the first last night. Then I started the Tiramisu blanket
http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/TiramisuBlanket.pdf
For a co-worker due in spring. Made out of some stash-busting cotton ease, will be the perfect baby gift! Color is pistachio, so it will be gender neutral.I got 5 skeins of this in the cotton ease buying spree when the old colors were being clearanced out to make room for the new ones.
It will be crib size , I have some contrasting great looking yellow for the boarder if I run short of the pistachio.
I need some fingerless gloves for typing. I may start that this week.
I want to clear out a few bins of yarn this winter.I have a couple afghans worth that I need to use.more later

Finished sweater!

I have quite literally just finished Britts sweater. I did one row of single crochet around the neck edge and all the ends are woven in!Yarn is caron simply soft shadows in Fuschia Flare.I used 4 full skeins and a few yards of a 5th.

A garter stitch sweater loosely based on this pattern, mostly just used the cast on # and mesturements:

ON TO THE SOCKS!

Fallen off the wagon

Big time. I have photographic evedance of my badness(I said yarn diet will resume friday remember!):

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Left to right: Austerman step color 49,Jarbo Garn mini raggi ball band in Sweedish so I'm not sure of the color, Patons SWS color Natural plum , lion cotton in candy colors, a shawl pin I found for $1.99, Penguin ornament $1.99 ( I have a thing for Penguins) and a set of lock eyes for stuffed animals.
Theres only about 2 more inches left on the front of my nieces sweater before I start the neck. So that's the tale of my badness, my friend Lara can attest that I have no will power as well as no more money.Anyway. TTYL

Crunch time!

Yea, I know it's not December yet , but wether we like it or not it's less than a month away from Christmas and our needles are clicking at full speed ahead!
I need to finish the front of my nieces sweater and the foot and toe of a sock.
Stu and I are car pooling again this coming week, so the socks should be done by my next weekend. I don't mind going to work an hour early if it means I don't have to spend my entire vacation stressing about getting my Christmas knitting done!
Then I might acually finish some of my other WIP's while I'm off for 5 days straight, a whole 3 of them with no distractions!
I'm also crocheting an afghan for my nephew who has been in the hospital with fluid on the lungs.
Simple granny squares in red heart classic. He's 3 1/2 so it's not super huge. Just a good cuddle size when he has to be away from home for long periods of time.
Colors are rust, true blue and emerald.
Any way on my vacation I hope to finish the following:
Socks and sweater if not completed at the time come first.
Next up is the green bunny and Totmen, then Nothin but a kids t-shirt in the 6 month size all that is left to knit is the sleeves that I wanted to alter to make longer.
My nephews blanket hopefully will get a fair amount of work as well as my dishcloth cotton granny (I'm up to 30 squares now!).Then I want to work on my magic 28 socks, I have another pair 1/2 finished I.E. first sock done awaiting ends being darned in second sock not yet cast on.I can't remember how many pairs I pledged but this will be my 3rd pair. They are going to Warm Woolies when I'm finished with my pledge.
Then after all that is finished I want to start a ripple with the cotton ease I bought this past summer.
I have broken my yarn diet to buy some dishcloth cotton and the yarn for my nephews blanket. The yarn diet will resume hopefully on friday.

Dish cloth cotton granny!

I just wanted to share a pic of my first 25 squares for my granny blanket.I'm useing dishcloth cotton scraps (sugar & cream/ peaches & cream). Out of this 25 none are duplicates and I'm counting at least 10 more scraps of new colors before I need to, not including full skeins of colors I havn't used yet.

Pay if forward!

I found this on http://nownormaknits.typepad.com .

I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days. That is my promise. The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

In other news , I got a new camera!
It was 89.94 and 12.88 for the 2gb memory card.It takes WONDERFUL pictures! I also got my employee discount ($10 off by the time I was done!)
It is a kodak easy share c713, there was 3 left on the shelf, I totally expected there wouldn't be any left ( I was NOT getting up at 4 am to get this thing) The fact that there was still some left 16 hours after the sale started tells me it was fate for me to have one!
Heres a picture of the box and my pointy kitty I made this past weekend , I used felt and blanket stitched her up, felt and tiny buttons for the eyes, so cute!I used this pattern:
http://weewonderfuls.typepad.com/wee_wonderfuls/store/downloads.html
This pic has no alterations takin inside with BAD lighting. Still looks ok I think!

I've also been working on my sock yarn blanket. I think I've put 10 more squares on in the past week?!
Any way just wanted to post and say hey.

Socks Wee!!! and Yarn diet

After finishing my lornas socks the other day I picked up my green Austerman socks that have languashed sence last winter. I finished the first one and cast on the second tonight. I LOVE Austerman!! I am so glad I have 2 more skeins of this in my stash! It makes my hands so soft from the Aloe and jojoba oil?!?!So nice!!!
As of November 1st I am going on a yarn diet until January 1st.
The exceptions are :
Gifts/projects that need more yarn to be finished
Sock yarn
1 fall off the wagon, although I am strictly staying away from yarn stores , but my Friend Lara is doing some christmas crocheting so I may have to go with her to pick out some more. However I'm totally tempted to go to the lime and violet shop and clear them out of sock yarn!!!!
I'm sticking with this one , I AM I AM I AM!!!!!!I have WAY to much yarn right now and I totally need to just knit my stuff that I already have and just not worry about anything else.

yarn hop!

Lara and I hopped from Color crossing to the quilt shop in Hudson.
I skein of Mountain colors glacier teal came home with me as well as a small skein of cotton and 6 skeins of something to make a baby blanket with in watermelon and lime (not official colors, just my perception).
Also a new bead shop in town just opened and we visited.I found awesome glass beads to make stitch markers with, there are sheep and rams, nuff said. I also got a butterfly glass bead and put it on a black rope necklace and it's wonderful. I've worn it all evening since I got home and put it together.
12 rows in on the monster blanket, I'm making it length wise instead of horizontal so it is crazy long.
I also joined knitwars!Join here: http://www.limenviolet.com/blog/?page_id=12
Crazy inspiring it made me knit 2 rows on monster tonight just for the xp!!!

My Birthday was yesterday

Nothing exciting happened.Stu and I went to lunch at my favorite Mexican place.I also got to go to the yarn shop and the fabric shop.I acquired some awesome sock monkey fabric as well as 3 "Wheels" of yarn.Lets just say there interesting and I don't know what they will be yet but I'm looking forward to using them in something interesting.
I finished knitting the red and beige baby sweater, I have seamed it and it just needs buttons.
I started a huge project that I think will take 4 years to complete and will use all of the red heart acrylic I have left in my stash.I am crocheting a queen size bedspread for our bed.A single row takes about 1 1/2 hours, maybe more.I'm on my second skein almost 4 rows in. A 7oz skein goes for about 2 1/2 rows. It's going to be incredibly scrappy, but beautiful and an epic project that, like I said, will take 4 years.
Almost done with the heel on the second Lornas sock. I might knock that out tonight.

Useing my yarn

Several months ago I started a baby sized granny blanket.I finished it but it didn't look finished, you know how that is right?
I had 2 skeins left, so today I pulled it out with the 2 skeins useing a n hook and both skeins of yarn and put a ruffely thick border and now it looks alot better, and I like it alot more and now I can take it to my moms house where I keep my craft sale stash and finally mark it finished for good.
I finished the first lornas laces sock, then cast on and knit the first 2 rows of the second.
Going threw my stash a bit today, I found I have 23 skeins of dish cloth cotton + 1 large cone.
I justafy my dish cloth cotton because I sell hand knit dish cloths at craft sales.
Either way I totally need to knit them up,eventually....
This month I'm making it my goal to knit up all of my pink dish cloth cotton in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month. only about 3 skeins, this shouldn't be to hard.
I've been bouncing around so much with projects nothing getting any real progress.
I've been working a couple rows on the cotton tots blanket. It sheads/pills so bad though, but It feels so soft, I'm willing to put up with it - slowly.
I started crocheting a jacket out of 4 skeins of red heart Earth and Sky.I plan on lineing it with polar fleece. My own fly by the seat of my pants pattern.

need....to...finish...something....

A fell off the wagon at Micheals and 9 skeins of Vannas choice yarn(on sale), and the book 200 crochet blocks ( I had a 50% off coupon).
Also at borders I got Babys and Toddlers a knitters dozen. There is an awesome baby sweater made out of 2 hexagons that I SO want to try.
I also recived a Ty Pluffie sheep named Shearly from Stu today for going to the game shop with him.
I finished the baby hat and have enough left over for slippers!
My right arm hurts, but I havn't been knitting much today, so it makes no sence...
Oh well, I need to finish something. I'm on a big case of startites, and it sucks, cause I want to finish!!!
To the toe on my lornas sock.
Thats all for now!

Starting a Hope Chest

The other day when my aunt was up we were talking about baby knits (she knits for hospitals) and we came across knitting for my future children, and also, starting a hope chest.I HAVE yarn for things I want to knit my baby when I become pregnant.
Patterns as well. The one Debbie Bliss book I have (Celtic Knits) I bought for the Moss stitch baby cartigan and baby fair isle sweater - only.
Recently I have been thinking about having a baby, alot. Although it's not possable for us to accomadate a baby right now, even if I did knit all of it's clothes for the first year.I'm just fasinated with the idea of a baby in the house. There hasn't been a new baby in the family for 3 1/2 years now and I miss it. I can't wait to meet my babys and see what they look like, to hear them snore,to smell baby...You all know that smell.
I want my kids to grow up with there cousins, that will only ever be my sisters kids as Stu is an only child and his only cousin and his wife can not have kids of there own.
So baby knitting instead of baby making it is!!I have a hat on the needles for the hope chest. I really wish I had an actual chest, but a rubbermaid container will do for now.
Also the toteman I'm knitting, after that is the Moss stitch cardigan from Celtic knits.
I think I'm a bit obsessed, but here we are.
And Lisa, if your reading, don't tell my mom.

In order to have progress...

You have to knit!!!
Yesterday after my post I continued on my finishing things.I knocked out the second 1/2 of a dish cloth, the rest of that hat and the other 1/2 of one of my sock ornaments.
Ever sence I discovered Cast-On I've been addicted and have used the listining of the back issues I have been knitting.

I have ripped the tofutsies socks, I dug them out the other day and for some reason not one but 2 needles had been pulled out and dropped sts galore! So I ripped and started on my Swedish socks. So soft!LOVE IT!
I'm also 2 dec rows from the foot on my Lornas laces socks.

I really want to knit more dish clothes, as craft show season is coming up!
I'm looking forward to it very much!
There are a few quilts that I would like to start.
As well as a few doll quilts for Christmas, maybe.

I really want to take my vacation time soon.Hopefully early november.
I'm also amaized that I've acually been able to put togeather a coherent post lately.
I think I'm just getting into my grove and it's making me happy.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Finished mear moments ago, she is seen here, resting against one of my 2 large Batman pillows I made for our first appartment over a year and a half ago.
She is made of red heart sport weight scraps of an afghan, and the pattern Funky monkey from Mr. Funkys Super crochet wonderful by Narumi Ogawa.
I still have plenty of left overs I may make more. I also want to make Le Hamster out of some Cotton Ease scraps I have.
I made a voiage to Eau Claire with Mom and Aunt Lisa (thanks again for lunch if your reading!!).
I got some awesome fabric at a fabric store just blocks down from Yellow Dog knitting, that I had never seen before even though I'd been past several times and oddly enough never seen it before. It's also a little gift store.
Now I'm saving some money because I want one of there Boyds bears. I have some smaller ones, but I REALLY want a larger one.
I also got some Swedish sock yarn recently available at Yellow dog. Self striping with an awesome blue with a black and white jaquard stripey thing going on. I cant wait to cast on!
I'm also trying to make tiny sock ornaments for our tree this year, But I'm not going to kill my self over it.
I really want to work on Bradys sweater, as it has been good to me and hasn't forced me to tears and a time out in the dresser.I may pull that out and give it some love later.
I also got the yarn for Bris sweater.Vannas choice ( I think I may have a problem..) Pink, Her favorite color. :)
Thats all for now,

Imagine great title here!

I have been crocheting quite a bit this week.
I finished 4 hats and have a fifth about 1/2 way done.
I was going to wait until I finished with it and post a fab pic of all 5 and the 2 pairs of magic 28 socks that are finished instead I give you this:

My pinky ty hamster named Rosa sitting on top of licorice peaches and cream dish cloth cotton , that by the way made an awesome dishcloth.

I am celebrating Socktober Fest by working with some of my extensive sock yarn stash.
And working on this:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My sock yarn blanket, still very small, but I'm working on it while I catch up on Cast-On, that I just discovered.

http://www.cast-on.com/?page_id=100

I also have 3 pairs of socks on the needles that I would like to finish this month, however they are all still on the first socks:
First a pair of lornas laces socks on the needles, first one is past the heel, working on the gusset.
Second is the tofutsies first sock on the gusset
Third socks are trekking xxl almost to the toe on the first sock.
No christmas knitting this week.

I have however been hiding something from you, I need to rip the back of Britts sweater because it's about 6 sizes to big, and I've just been letting it lay there, on top the dresser totally in denial. So let us move on, I'll come back to it in a few weeks when I'm a bit less distrought over the whole situation...

a new kind of yarn diet

For each skein of yarn I use I can buy a new one. For each FO I can buy 2.
Seeing as I never finish anything the former is practly irrelivent. :)
HOWEVER I have been knitting tiny baby things, and now I am making size 3-5 hats for the head start program my neice belongs to.
So small things like this may eat up more yarn than one may think....
I'm hoping anyway. Stu was going threw the bedroom looking for somthing the night before last and discovered a couple tubs that he didn't know about that just happen to be filled with yarn.I think he got a little scared...

I'm tired!

Working in a public place really makes you sick alot, both metophoric and phyisically.
I'm constant companion with Mr. Snuffy nose and Ms. Clogged head.
I wish I had more sick days.

I finished the second pair of magic 28 socks last night.I'm not casting on for another pair until I finish Britts sweater. Still working on the back.
My lap top has been down.It wont connect to the internet, and it's pissing me off.Other wise my cronic blog-reading would have allowed me to finish the back by now. I can only knit comfy and read the computer when sitting on the couch. So Stus desk top is my only access to the internet.I don't like it but it will do for now.

COLD!

It turned f*ing cold this past week and I have been hiding under 2 of my blanket projects.
A nice large Lionbrand jiffy giant granny square planned as a lap blanket for mom for Christmas. Useing 2 different dye lots as stripes and a brown edging. Mom likes natural colors and this fits the bill.
Looking for my longer size 10's to continue my log cabin again.
I found a pattern for a crochet jacket that I WANT BADLY!
Already have the pattern and the yarn, want to finish something else first. 2 1/2 more skeins until moms blankets done. Maybe after that....
Going to the yarn shop tomorrow, hopefully will find something intresting...
On to the second sock of the second pair of magic 28 socks!
My order from knitpicks should be coming in a day or 2. The yarn is for a blanket for my niece.Larger than past blankets I've made for her.Hopefully twin size for her b-day next year.
If you thought I was going to say Christmas, you must really think I'm insane.
I'm talking her b-day next october.

The first pair of the magic 28 socks I pledged!
All but for the weaving in of ends.
I have about a million darning needles here somewhere, now only if one will surface so I can weave in the ends......

6 inches short

Until I get to the neck on the back of Britts sweater.
She spent the night last night, but I forgot to compare the completed parts up to her to see of they were right.... Oh well, maybe next time.
I hope I have enough yarn, I'm thinking I might but we will see when I finish the back, hopefully this week sometime. I have been taking it to work with me everyday.
I can't get anymore of this yarn, it was clearanced at Micheals and I got the last 5 skeins. So it HAS to be enough!!

I got it!

I got the yarn I won!!!!
It is so perfect!!!!I cant wait to cast on!!!!Thank you so much Bliss!!!It totally rocks!!!

In other news, I'm about 5 inches up the back of Britts sweater. Due to showing up at work at 2, rather than 3 when I was acually supposed to be!Past the ribbing into the garter st, wonderful for chatting and reading! I can see this going quickly!

I'm also to the point where I need to bind off the toe of my first magic 28 socks to start on the next!

I joined!

I was going threw some old projects today and I came across this pair of mittins I started last year.It was my own pattern, of wich I didn't write down.
I ripped it and promptly started Normas magic 28 sock and joined the web ring, link on the bottom of the page.
I have pledged 12 pairs before the end of winter.
The first sock is past it's gusset. SO QUICK!
I know I have so much Christmas knitting, but I need something low stress and portable. All in all, just something to make me feel good on the inside.
I have a bit of wool, only hand washable in alot of brite colors. I however, don't "do" hand wash only and neither does my family. So this is a good way to use it up for a good cause

Finished!

Sox are completated! Gifting them later this week. This is a pic, with flash at 2:30 in the AM...

Tired...

long week come to a close.Still working on the socks, just having a beer, sitting here , reading up on some blogs picking up on the socks some and adding a few rows here and there.I susspect I'm 1/4 down the foot now.

just trying to de-stress.It's been a bad week. And I have to take money from savings to pay my rent.
Good thing I won http://goddess1.typepad.com/i_hide_yarn/ her contest or I wouldn't be having any new yarn in awhile!!

Workin hard....,

past the gusset on Marcies sox, straight down the foot I go!!!
My goal is to finish them in the next week. Wahoo!
It will be nice to finish something after so long....

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

It's been slow..

I got the socks down to the heel shaping, then I'll be starting the gusset.
Stu has gotten me a new book on Amiguri , and I want to start something now!!!

Sleeves done!

I think I was smart to do the sleeves first on the size 5 sweater.
They were very quick and fun!
Now the front and back are just giant garter st rectangles, so I can see myself switching between the size 5 and size six sweater.
I think I'll be calling the size 5 sweater Britts sweater and the 6 Bradys, for the intended recipiants.
Britts is a fushia defuised by a strand running threw it that fades from black to navy to a slightly lighter pink.
Bradys is a dusty blue.
I also finished a log on the afghan and cant start a new one until I unearth my size 10 circs. It is now way to large for my 10 inch straights!
It's been rainy and cold. The perfect time for big afghan knitting!
A small bit on the socks have been worked.I'm on the heel of the second sock now.I'm just happy to be seeing results in my knitting again.
I feel like I've been in a stand still forever. It's nice to be moving again....

I think it's working..

Last night I finished the first sleeve f the size 5 sweater and the ribbing on the second.
Tonight it's a bit chilly so I brought out the blanket and started a new block of color.
It's a log cabin and is at the point where it is getting just to big to finish an entire block in one sitting.
I also knit 2 or so rows on the sock.Hey at least it's something! :)

I need to finish something.....

I'm going out of my mind.I have recently started my Christmas knitting. 3 small sweaters sizes 6, 5 and 3 , for my neices and nephews. A pair of socks for a co worker, a blanket for my sister, and thats just what I have started!!!
I have 1 sock done and the other almost down to the heel, 1 sleeve on the size 5 sweater is well over 1/2 way done, to the yoke on the front of the 6 sweater. Blanket is 3 out of 8 skeins in.
I am devoting myself to posting here at least once a week to keep track of my progress.I really need to get to knitting if I'm going to have all this done!
The blanket has gotten to the point where it is way to hot for me to knit in this 80 + weather.
Socks are my work knitting.
The sweaters are small enough, one is garter st the other is a mix of basketweave and seed st. The 3rd is not started yet.

See you next week

Frusterated!!!

I'm mad.
My best friends wedding is on July 28th, no problem, except about 6 people are taking off from our department for that weekend. I've expressed my worries to the manager , but she's pretty damn flighty, so I'm nervious and mad that maybe I wont get it and I'll have to call in cause there is no way in hell that i'm missing it.
My sister might have MS, they are doing more testing, but they are pretty sure that's what it is.
My mom just had another heart operation, my s-dads kidneys are failing and my fiancie is pissing me off left and right as well as his parents!!

Why can't we go a week without fighting about them?? Why can't he just leave me alone until I simmerdown and QUIT ASKING WHY I'M PISSED WHEN HE KNOWS WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sad and frusterated because the best friends of my Stu who are like brothers to him are dissing him and making him mad and I'm the one who takes the punishment!!

I'm just crocheting my frusterations out into a baby blanket for my cousin due in january.

I'm just sad

Hey Ya'll I'm Back!

After moving and about 3 weeks with out internet, I am back.
Sence I've been gone....
I'm in progress of putting togeather a granny square blanket and I've tryed out a couple hexagon/grannys.

I'm smack in the middle of a Baby suprise jacket by Elisabeth Zimmerman.
This is the first pattern of hers I've ever tried and I'm likeing it!

I made the Harry bear from http://www.berroco.com
He is so cute!

I have all the stuff for my wedding invites, I just need to decide the location and get Stuart to get some addresses then I'll be set to print, pack and mail them! Wahoo!

Anyway, I'll ttyl

DONE

Finished, addressed and ready to send. 66 squares (over 1/2 already sent) DONE for my Friendship afghan square exchange. It was my goal to have them done by the 14th when postage rates go up and the price to ship 1 will be tripple what it is now.
I'm relived, now I can work on other stuff, but still the urge to granny it up is irristable, and my urge to make the Larger Than Life bag from the spring Interweave Crochet has me wanting to start something new...........

Another pair of socks.....

I cast on another pair of socks last week after finishing my moms mothers day socks.
The ones I'm workign on now are made of the Lornas laces flamingo, AKA the breast cancer awareness color way.
I found some fabric with pink ribbons on it I want to make a quilt with, but we are in the middle of a move so big projects are out of the question right now. I'm sticking with socks and my sock yarn blanket that is growing very quickly!!

Anyway. I want to get these socks done by the end of my weekend, wensday, so i'll TTYL!

Baby it's COLD outside!

I wish I didn't have car insurance to pay otherwise I'd have a nice new digital camera not only to show you my recent knitting, but the 8" of snow we got on sunday night.
I didn't get off work until midnight and it took me 40 minuites to go 5 miles, sliding sideways in the middle of town in the middle of the road half way.
It was not fun.
I started a garter stitch scarf tonight during the season premiere of The Real House Wifes of Orange County.
Now I wish there was something else good on tv to watch......

Resolutions

It is the first week of a new year and many people vow to change them selfs over the next year, mostly for the better......... :)
I like to vow to knit at least 1 item for a charity. This year I select http://www.knitforkids.org/

I want to make at least 1 sweater, hopefully more.
There simple enough for me to work on at work and I can change the colors and pattern to suite my mood and the diffaculty level I want.As well as useing up my extensive "small ball" stash.
I've already cast on the front of a sweater!

In other news I won some yarn from http://www.yellowdogknitting.com/blog/ !!
Hopefully with tax returns I will get a new camera, as mine is so old I can't find a new cord for it! YAY! :P
