I'm a good wife

60

As a 1930s wife, I am
Superior

Take the test!

Things I would like to finish

#1. My hand dyed sock. 1 sock complete, one on the foot, hopefully finished or almost finished today. Been on the needles for months.
#2. Gift scarf 1/2 finished. Will probably take a couple days to finish.
#3. The green afghan. 1/2 finished, will take about a week to complete.
#4. Knit the freakin' ears for my Bobbi bear already, it's been about a year and that is all he needs to be complete.
#5. My sweater. The body is almost finished. Could be finished in a week.
#6. Granny baby blanket. 20 more grannys to crochet, would take 3 or 4 days to finish.
#7. Log cabin blanket. 14 more squares to make. Would take about a week to finish.
#8. Dots blanket. A week tops.
#9. Fish blanket. A month or so on and off. There are a lot of fishies to knit yet!
#10. Cotton bag. Needs handle. An evening at the most.
#11. The dish clothes for my MIL Christmas gift. 1 or 2 days.
#12. My sisters mittens. A day or 2.
#13. The Nerdclub socks. A week to finish.
#14. Optmus Prime. His body is finished, need arms and legs. 2 weeks to finish.

I think that is all, but I'm not digging around to find them all.

I would like to start the following:
#1. A mitered square vest turned jacket via my own alterations.
#2. Scarf for me.
#3. Scarf for hubby.
#4. Scarf for sister.
#5. Socks. A lot of them.
#6. Blue afghan.
#7. Another sweater for me.

Looks like I need to get knitting....

21 dishcloth challange!

So I was looking at my stash tonight and realized that I had no more room in the 2 totes that I have my dish cloth cotton in.Refusing the thought of "Oh I need another tote" I was going to knit 10 dish clothes before I got anymore. Well, in an effort of using the yarn house as a destashing technique I filled a room in the house with the cotton and stated to plurk and the world that I will try to use up as much yarn as I put in that room before my birthday. So the long and the short of it: I'm trying to knit 21 dish cloths before my 21st birthday, starting today I have until october 16th to complete them. I've already knit 1 1/2, and I have tomorrow off. If all I do is knit tomorrow I'll probably complete 4 more, but don't take that as the gospel, I have alot on my plate right now. :)
I'm not going to cry if I don't finish them. It's just a small goal to help me destash a bit. :)

TTYL,

Hayley

Yes it has been awhile, yet again!

I just haven't had alot to blog about. I have been knitting, but not alot of FO's to show off. But you know, I'm back now, so let's talk yarn!
Photobucket
Tis the season to be thinking of your Christmas crafting! Yup, I said the C word.
Stop groaning, you all knew it was coming along soon anyway!
On the report I'm throwing out my old list and starting fresh.
I'm crocheting my sister a throw. It is a big granny square in 3 shades of green. I have started it and I'm about 1/2 way threw the first ball out of 12.
I'm almost finished with a crochet log cabin blanket, 14 more squares to go. I'm not sure who this is going to, but I'll find some one who will like it.
I'm going to turn the dots blanket that I have been working on into a doll blanket. I have come to realize that I will never finish it unless I down size it. What to do with all that extra yarn? Hooded baby blankets for all my knocked up friends! lol
I also want to give another go at a fish blanket for my nephew. I have all the yarn, I just need to sit down and DO IT.
In other knitting:
I'm also working on a double stranded 100% wool blanket that I plan on felting slightly. I started this project to use up a bunch single skeins of wool I bought with no inclination on what to make. This will be for myself when it gets finished. It is already is a fair size, I work on it during chilly nights.
I'm knitting myself another sweater with plans (not to mention yarn) for at least 4 more.I'm knitting on 3 pairs of socks that I hope to finish during Socktober. I'm crocheting a baby blanket of smaller granny squares for a baby of unknown origins as of yet. My friends have been cranking them out as of late so my stash of baby knits has been coming in handy as gifts. An older friend of mine has 2 daughters expecting, I gave them each a blanket out of my stash, I'm glad I have them so I don't make myself crazy trying to crank them out at the rate they are coming! lol
Burp cloths are another favorite knit right now. I've sold some dish clothes recently so I need to build up my stash of those again. They get really popular around Christmas.
I'm debating on what pattern I'm going to use up a bunch of old acrylic I have. I might do another giant granny and give it to someone for Christmas, time depending.
I wont make myself crazy this year, even though I finished in record time last year. :)
That reminds me to put in for the first weekend of December off... I do that to make sure I have enough time to finish things. With hubby at work and plenty of netflix to keep me interested I'm always done on time.

I'm tired

It has been a long weekend. Hubby and I took off the weekend and went to the Ren fest in Chippewa on saturday.
We didn't do much the past few days.Today we went and I got to go to the yarn store! I love going to Yellow Dog.As much as I like online shopping, there is nothing like good customer service and Yellow Dog has it.
I got this at Yellow Dog:
Photobucket

2 skeins Koigu,2 skeins Lornas Laces is the "Franklin" color way and 4 more skeins of Noro silk garden not pictured, because they are the same color as my sweater. As well as the pattern for wonderful wallaby! I also ordered a sweaters worth of yarn, but we are not talking about that yet!

Then at Boarders I got Creepy Cute Crochet, I've been looking for this book for a long time and can't wait to start using it!At Michaels I got Amigurumi World Seriously cute crochet. (can you tell I really like amigurumi?) a bernat pattern booklette and a sweaters worth of wool ease in dark rose heather.

Photobucket

I also ordered the last 2 skeins of Dream in color for my other sweater and some J. knits sock yarn today. :)
I consider this all yarn therapy after having to deal with my mother this morning. Lets just say I wont be talking to her again for a very long time.

I have sent the doll out for cleaning and limb reattachment. After repairs she is still $30 cheaper than buying one new off the website.
I also ordered a Blythe doll that I've wanted forever! I'll probably be receiving her next week sometime. Kit (the AG doll) will be back in a few weeks from her doll hospital stay. :)

Stupid people..(Rant no knitting, come back tomorrow)

Today I got back from lunch to 3 people waiting for fabric. My back up was there but she's new and not very fast yet so there was a small wait not to bad. So my back up finishes the order she was working on and I took back over (there is only one spot to cut fabric in our store). So I finish up and a few minuites later I get a call "Do you have anyone back there to help you if you get busy?" I respond " If I got bad I could have someone use the scanner to help create the stickers, but other than that there is only one spot to cut fabric." He says "Oh, this one lady was really upset she had to wait.". What am I supposed to do? Cut her fabric with the power of my mind? Should I shoot lasers out of my eyes and get everyone done at once? Screw her! It's not my fault she got in line 3rd. Does she think I should have taken her first even though she was in line last? God forbid she had to wait a few minuites because she spent more time making up her mind than the first 2 customers. I hate people who think they are entitled, that they shouldn't have to wait like everyone else. Don't be surprised when you get in a LINE and then have to WAIT. That is just stupid and I can't stand stupid people! Don't wine about it either! You knew perfectly well when you stepped in line that the lady in front of you was getting 10 bolts of fabric and that she was going to be waited on first because she was here first!!!
The moral of the story is: Shut up, go to the back of the line, wait and if so help me god if I hear a peep I'll cut your fabric crooked on purpose. :P

So, yea

I'm back after spending most of the day with my sister in the hospital. Long story but to sum it all up they think it's another symptom of MS and she has to go in for an MRI tomorrow. They want to compare the new MRI with one she had last year to see if the spots on her brain are bigger and if there are more of them. I'm calling in late to work to take her. Normally I wouldn't, but because of the MRI (she's very claustrophobic) they may have to sedate her blah, blah, blah, in the end I'm mostly going to support her because there's pretty much no one else to take on this role. Her BF can't drive (he's mostly blind) our parents live 1/2 hour away our other 2 sisters even further. It's nice that I'm in town and can help out like today and tomorrow.
Anyway that's pretty much all. I was able to work a couple of rounds on my tunic in the hospital and will have about 3 hours wait tomorrow to work on it some more. I just found out a good friend of mine is having a boy so I'm knitting her a few pairs of baby socks.I started one tonight and omg I forgot how fast they go. I'm almost done with the cuff on the first one and I've just barely started! :)
My aunt fixed my sewing machine last night of which I am very great full. I have 2 quilt tops ready to be pieced.

Long time no see

Lets just say I've spent to much, crafted to little and have driven my husband just a little mad.
I'm happy to report my mothers day socks are finished and I just delivered them today. Bad daughter no cookie!
I have sewn a few super cute string blocks (see quiltville.com for more info) and turned them into house blocks that are AMAZING! Totally cute. I have crochet the middle of a baby blanket, I need to do a border to finish it off. It used 2 skeins of stash yarn! WEE! That's always nice when the stash produces a project.
I have become a Yellow dog knitting Diva. It's been so long since I've posted I don't think I've mentioned it.
I think I have 7 of the fabel sock yarn colors now. I haven't started anything with it yet, but I plan on starting a pair of socks soon.
I have started a simple stripes baby sweater out of Opals tiger color way.
I have started knitting my tunic, 10 more rows I think I'll be able to start working in the round.
I think I'm up to speed now. Hopefully it won't be this long again with out a post again.

First sock syndrome??

This is what happens to me, I work for months and months (In this case since December)on the first sock then the second sock takes like 5 minuites.
Here are my mothers day socks for my mom: Moms socks

Not quite finished yet huh? The second sock takes a lot less time than the first, so hopefully I won't be to late on the M-day socks.

In the mean time I hit up Yellow Dog for some of there wonderful Fable sock yarn:

Fable sock yarn

I think I'm going to join the 52 pair plunge this year. I have plans for a lot of worsted weight wool socks for my charity project. It would be very good motivation to keep up!

On vacation

Hubby and I have taken the last 4 days off together. One more day and I need to go back ,the only good thing about that is that I start fabrics on Thursday!! YAY!

Along the lines of good news is I finished the c-2-c blankie and a crochet shell c-2-c blanket. I've also finished a preemie gown and a doll blanket.
I have worked on the Log Cabin blanket a bit some to.

I have cut out all of the small pieces for a queen sized double wedding ring quilt.
The only problem is that the chair I got to sit in while quilting is mega not comfortable at all and it hurts to sew. Ya, it's going back tomorrow and I'm up grading.

I'm working on some preemie items and I want to design some of my own so I'm buying this pattern: http://dollnetmarket.com/shop/product.php?productid=119&cat=6&page=1
To help me with my proportions.

Huge stash buster!

scrap afghan

This is what I have been working on and has been a giant time suck,I couldn't take myself away from it, but has also taken up a couple thousand yards of stash. The brown in between color rows took up almost 3 super saver skeins that are 364 yards each.It is big enough to cover the top of our queen sized bed. All of the color rows are scrap balls so I don't know how many yards in all.The yarn I made this out of filled up a laundry basket. I still have well over 1/2 left over.

I'm giving this afghan to my friend Marci. It was her birthday on April 9 so I'm a little late. She was born a hippy, she will love this!

I have started another scrap afghan ,left overs from the other blanket, making panels and when there done I'll be crocheting them together. :)
I don't know who I'll gift the next one to. I'm trying to clear out to get some more room in here!!!

I started a baby sweater on size 1's with baby ull in pale purple and pink with white ribbing. It is so tiny and cute! I found out another girl at work is pregnant so add her to the list of 4+ people who are expecting that I know.

I worked on the c-2-c blanket today. I finished the last skein of yellow. 1 more green and it will be time to work an edging. I think a baby sweater and blanket for each is good. Maybe a pair of baby socks. Or a hat. I love babies!

Dear Cranky old lady,

I do not give a rats ass that you waited 17 minutes (more like 10) on the phone today while I had a line out to soft lines before I could get to you. I don't care if you want to "Give me a talking to" when you come in for your $4.80 that you were overcharged on your reduced bakery items. For the record I'm not a "Young lady" you bitch and you can shove those cinnamon rolls up your ass. I hope you choke on them.

So you don't have stuff

This title is inspired by my brother in law Greg that I was talking with on Monday night. Me in reference to some fabric I had found in my stash: "I have so much stuff I don't know what I have anymore." Greg in rebuttal: "So you don't have stuff, you have shit" Me: "Basically".

I have been cleaning out my fabric, finding the stuff I've forgotten and cutting it up for my sister for her birthday because she loves to sew, but doesn't have the time to cut up all the squares.A lot of this stuff I still like, but not love enough to keep in the stash.I found the fabric I was collecting for a double wedding ring quilt.I really want to go to the fabric store next week, but I think I'll put it off for another week, and if I'm good I'll get to go. It's almost an hour drive to the good quilt shop (the one that doesn't think all young people are evil) so it has to be a pay week. There's a yarn shop on the way and they have some cool sock yarn I want to try.I need to cut up a few more yards tonight and tomorrow. I'm trying to keep the fabric stash confined to it's tote,it's overflowing a bit right now. Must beat it back!

I'm 2/3 of the way done with my scrap afghan. Not nearly enough yarn is gone. :(
I'll be doing at least 3 more of these hopefully this year. I have started a tessellating fish afghan for my nephew for Christmas '08. His favorite color is orange, so this blanket is orange and yellow goldfish! I had to buy the yarn $20 on 10 skeins of bernat softee chunky. I will need more yellow. I think I'll get 3 fish out of one skein. I've knit 2, they take about 45 minutes each.

I received the elusive Trekking color 100 that I have been wanting for 3 years now.

I also received some pencil roving and some lace weight that SMELLS SO GOOD!!!

I have been playing with the Dots blanket pattern in the newest spring Interweave Crochet.

I completed a dishcloth yesterday at the laundromat and started another.

The corner to corner blanket is banished to the corner for being boring. Not the blankets fault. I just need to get some good movies going.

I have been experimenting with dying yarn with easter egg dye. I've done 2 skeins and they have turned out well. I'm knitting a scarf with them alternating skeins and it looks awesome.

I haven't touched the sock since I blogged last.

I think I'm going to knit another fish...

What I'm acually going to do:

Knit another burp cloth.
finish the c-2-c baby blanket
use 2 skeins from the stash
10 squares for one of my afghans

The c-2-c blanket itself is going to take forever!
I've also started a garter stitch afghan out of old stash acrylic, not sure if it will be panels or log-cabin-esque.

Adding a few more things

I realize today, that I may have made it a bit to easy on my self last night.Last night I ripped the ripple, and crochet 10 squares for my cotton granny. The burp cloth is less than 5" from completion. That only leaves 2 things left, both could be finished within the week. The point is for it to last for 3 weeks until the next pay check comes around.
So I add (complete list) :
Finish current socks,I'm on the foot of the first one.
Make 2 somethings off my ravelry queue.
Make 10 more squares for one of my afghans.
Knit another burp cloth.
Cast on for Sprout, an Amy King design in stashed cotton ease.
finish the 1/2 finished c-2-c baby blanket
knit 4 washcloths

I'm back to trying to pair down the cotton stash. Soon it will be summer and small things will take over the big. So I'll be trying to knit one wash cloth a week again. The burp clothes are being knit from a cone of peaches 'n cream. I think I can get at least 3 out of the cone. Then maybe I'll pair up some of my solids and make some stripy cloths, because knitting plain dish cloths boars me to tears, and I don't know why knowing this I bought them anyway.I have a cone of ecru, and about 6 skeins of different solids, so that's a lot of burp cloths!I like the pattern because it's simple enough to do while reading, watching tv etc. but interesting enough to not make you want to throw it in the river if your knitting it just to be knitting.
It is really nice out today, I have the screen door open for the first time in months airing out the apartment. I got my laundry done for the week, had a latte and knit on my socks waiting at the laundromat watching the price of gas go up. It is now $3.27 per gallon. Glad I filled up yesterday at $3.23 . :(
The hubby and I have been car pooling, thank god we work at the same place and relatively the same hours or we would be very broke. Hence my wip/stash obsession until I can buy new yarn. That and I get my yearly raise starting April 2nd, so I really want to treat myself with that first check and not feel guilty about it.
After I finish my list I figure I've used approximately $60 worth of yarn, so I can spend that much, maybe. I'm hoping to way over shoot my goal. After all I do have 3 weeks and a lot of those projects only take a day or so...

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

So tired!

But I do have progress! I have knit almost half a corner to corner baby blanket using lion brand cupcake in lemon drop and pistachio. I also exchanged some yarn today to make a miter blanket for the couch. I'll need tons more, but 10 skeins will give me a good start. I'm using bazic wool in 10 colors. I have also knit more than half of a baby genius burp cloth. I should finish that tomorrow...
I have plenty of progress, but no FO's. Maybe next week. I did really good for about a week knitting on the c-2-c faithfully, as well as my sock (currently on the gusset), then I started the BGBC, and all hell broke loose, and I haven't touched it in a few days now.
I want to order some of the new colors of sock yarn from Knit Picks, like 5 of them.
First I MUST:
Finish c-2-c blanket
finish burp cloth
crochet 10 more squares for one of my blankets.
knit 4 more dish cloths.
rip the cotton ripple

There, 5 goals for 10 skeins of yarn, that's not to unreasonable to do before ordering new yarn. And it will give me time to save the money needed in like 2 paychecks. No ramen for me!

all that goes on

I was so busy this weekend, I hardly knit a stitch on monday, tuesday I hit it hard finishing those 2 projects, today I had an appointment, but thankfully it brought me close to a yarn store to pick up the dpns for my sleeves on the malabrigo sweater. In this adventure of making up a seam less sweater, I have discovered that 2 circs are NOT for me.It's starting to get nice here and I swear if it kills me I will wear it before summer hits.
I've knit about 6" on the first sleeve, and will continue to knit it exclusively at home until it's finished.
I'm on the toe of the sock. I will finish it tomorrow at work. Simply because the sweater is way to huge to take anywhere, except to haul up on my lap to work on.
I bought some real nice hand dyed sock yarn there. I should shop there more, they have some great indie yarn that is FABULAS!
My aunt gave me a sweaters worth of Kona bay knitting yarn 75% acrylic,15%alpaca,10% nylon.I'm going to make Thermal from knitty once I've finished the malabrigo sweater. It is a pretty grape color.I love it!

So heres the challenge, finish these socks:

cherry coke socks

Before my order gets here! Can my socks beat Sheri to the post office?
Will I get distracted by the malabrigo that just came in today to finish my sweater?
Will I stop and make millions of yo-yos until my fingers bleed from some awesome scraps sent to me by Sugarmagknowya ?
Only time will tell...

Reset the clock

I reset for 100 days because I want a fresh start. This is not a hard 100 days, IE it can change at any time.
I purchased 4 skeins on malabrigo today. That will be my last purchase for at least a month. I want to finish the sweater I bought yarn for tonight (I just cast it on), my socks (1 sock to go) and that denim baby jacket I got yarn for about 2 years ago?? Longer? Maybe? I started the sleeve last night.
I just feel guilty, because I want more and I just can't afford it. So if I use what I have maybe I'll feel better later and be able to justify an afghans worth later this year.
I finished those 2 things yesterday. As well as that ever lovin' cotton baby blanket a week or so ago. I'm still waiting on the yarn for the rest of my first malabrigo sweater.Once that is done and I can wear it I'll feel a lot better.
I started a child's hoodie out of stash yarn and I have the back completed.
I also want to crochet a blanket with some good will cotton I picked up last summer to clean out that tote. I want to simplify and stream line my yarn to what I actually want to knit and not just because it was on sale or cheep.
Some days I look at my yarn and think "Am I going to be able to knit all this, and do I really want to?". Yes I do. I really do. I have plans for most of my yarn. Very little doesn't have a project pegged. It's just a matter of getting to it, and that means working my way threw the stash. Making those long awaited projects come to life and enjoy them and not just the idea of them.Fighting off Startitis while going threw the stash will be hard.Tomten was the last thing off the needles from last falls bout and I really hate cleaning up after it.Although I fear it's already started.
Projects in the works right now are my new malabrigo sweater, the acrylic hoodie, the lace scarf, the socks and the denim baby jacket. The log cabin blanket and babette get worked on in spurts,as well as the dish cloths and the left over cotton blanket. I want to start Serenity in lake cotton ease I have in my stash but I will wait until the acrylic hoodie is finished.I need to see if I have the correct needles for Serenity.

I knit it on size 3 needles with 2 skeins knit picks memories in the red hat color now discontinued. The sleeves look skinny, but I imagine it will fit a newborn.

Knitting superstitions!

Did you know about these knitting superstitions:
1.It's bad luck to leave a project unfinished. The intended recepient will get bad luck from the unfinished item.
2.Stabbing your needles though your yarn balls brings bad luck to anyone who wears something made from that yarn.

3.Don't knit a pair of socks for your boyfriend or he'll walk away from you. He'll walk away but will he walk back? It might be an effective way to rid yourself of a pest.

4.If you knit one of your own hairs into a garment, it will bind the recipient to you.

5.Knitting for children you may have in the future, but before you are pregnant, is bad luck (it may prevent one from getting pregnant, or bring ill health to the baby).

6.Don't stop knitting when you are only on the cast-on row, or the project will never be finished. At least now I have something to blame all those UFO's on

7.Cast-on for your next project immediately after finishing one. It's bad luck for your needles to be empty. No problem there

8.When knitting a pair of socks, the second sock must be started immediately after casting off the first and finishing the first must be postponed until the knitter has time to cast-off, and cast-on the next sock at the same sitting.

9.Knitting as a voodoo doll -- ripping out your knitting while picturing someone you don't like is a way to "hex" them.

10. Never HAND knitting needles to a friend, they can stab the friendship. Put them down and let the friend pick them up. How many of us are guilty of stabbing a friend? At least now we know.

It was on sale..

*giggle*

The 2 claret and 2 mustard are for my b-i-l's blanket. The 2 coffee are for my sisters afghan. 1 skein cotton tots for a boarder on the wretched cotton tots blanket that pills if you look at it wrong.I will never use this yarn again. 6 skeins dish cloth cotton.1 N sized crochet hook and a Patons booklet with an awesome cabled sweater in it.

Red hart super saver $4 for 2 skeins, Vannas choice $5 for 2 skeins, Sugar and cream $5 for 4 skeins. Claret and Mustard are the perfect combo for 49ers colors!

I really haven't been this happy in a long time. I'm looking forward to my knitting, my weddings coming up and Stu and I are looking at houses. As well as thinking about babies and looking at better jobs. I'm in a good spot right now and I'm enjoying myself.

At least I didn't buy anything with out a purpose!

4-6: pledged magic 28 socks not started yet

9: scrap afghan not started yet will be a Christmas gift

Frozen freakin' tundra outside!

Yesterday it was 50 degrees and sunny. It was WARM the snow was melting, the squirrels were barking (long story). Today it is 20 degrees below zero, 4" of snow (at least) thats blowing so that you can't see crap. My sweater is at 15" now and I'm wishing it was finished. Today would be the day I needed it the most this winter so far.
I have started Bradys Christmas blanket. I'm doing a knit basket weave middle, then I plan on crocheting around it until it's big enough for him. It's orange, his most favorite color.

Knitting away

Progress!
I almost have another skein in on the Malabrigo sweater, it is about 12" long right now. I'm about 1/2 way done with another washcloth. I finished the knitting and seaming on the baby kimono, now it just needs buttons! I crochet 16 more blocks for Babette. 10 more of the 2 row squares and I'll be done with the 2 row squares, I'm crocheting the smallest first and working my way up.I hope to have Babette finished by the end of June. No more progress on the log cabin blanket. I have Saturday off so I'm expecting a lot of progress this weekend on various things.I want to crochet more of my dish cloth cotton squares, but it's the same style square as the Babette, and because Babette is more on a time line, I want to get that finished first.
I found a 1/2 finished giant granny afghan in the cubby. I don't know if I'll rip it or finish it. I'll probably rip it. :)
My sister Shirley says "No more blankets" so that takes 2 afghans off my list. I would like to make a blanket for my b-i-l in 49ers colors, if I have time. It is really at the bottom of the list.

Consider this my fall off

I got some malabrigo yarn at my lys with a gift card and didn't realize it wouldn't be enough for a sweater until I got home. So I got online and purchased 4 more skeins as well as 2 skeins in 2 other colors for scarfs for Christmas or me I'll decide when they get here. I can't keep affording to do this. This has just gotten out of hand. I might need to extend the yarn diet, I'll do a recount after the days are up and see just how bad I was. I'm on dishcloth #7 and I used 2 balls on the baby kimono so thats 9 balls, so I'm twice my goal +1 in that respect. That makes me feel a bit better..
I have cast on for the malabrigo sweater, and I'm 5 inches in, working circular to the armpits, then dividing for the front and back using the EZ's percentage method. I'm hoping I'll have used the skeins I have before the other yarn gets here. I do have an extra day off in February, so I'm hoping to have it up to the arms by then. This thing is going to come everywhere with me. Including work, until it's finished. We have been having -5 and below temperatures all week and I think that made me cry out for a 100% wool sweater. The colors are amazing and it's SO SOFT! Like cloud soft. It is insane that anything can be this soft. I love it, and it shall be my down fall....

I don't know what to knit...

I'm in a bit of a slump. On the needles: Baby Kimono, need more yarn, socks, 2 rows in to the second sock just can't get motivated, 1/2 a dish cloth done should knock that out tonight, but I don't feel like it. That's it for the small stuff. In my searching I've crochet 6 squares for Devyns log cabin blanket today bringing my total so far up to 12. I need more yarn in 2 colors for blocks and probably a brown to put them all together.
I would like to knit some doll clothes. I'm thinking of getting some of those nekkid dolls at Michaels to knit for, then give them away for Christmas.
I'm tired and I don't know what I want to do.... I might start a pair of doll socks.Or maybe a scarf....

I went shopping!

But all the yarn I got was cleared threw my rules. I got 2 skeins of Vannas choice for my nephews Christmas blanket and 1 skein Lion brand wool for socks for Warm Woolies. My main charity project for this year.
Theres a book store going out of business and I got an awesome new Journal for 50% off and the new "Son of stitch and bitch" from Debbie Stoller for 25% off. As well as a pack of Rudolph cards for 75% off. I have another dish cloth almost finished, and I have started a Heartbreakingly cute baby Kimono with 2 matching skeins of dish cloth cotton I found in the stash, thus adding another item to my hope chest and trying a pattern I've seen everywhere and wanted to knit forever and reducing the dish cloth cotton stash even more! That's a lot of accomplishment for 1 project. :)

I have started the 4th skein on Devyns ripple.
I have started crocheting small 4 row grannys for fun as part of a stash busting move as well as breaking up the monotony in my larger projects, I'm not going to kill myself but it might be a afghan for my sister for Christmas.
1 afghan down 7 to go

Questionare

http://dishclothexchange.blogspot.com/2008/01/questionnaire.html

1. Do you knit, crochet, or do both? Both

2. What types of needles do you enjoy using for making dishcloths? I use my size 4 metal straights I got from Goodwill forever ago.

3. What types of cotton do you enjoy using for making dishcloths? Is there any that you've been wanting to try? I use your standard Peaches 'n Cream/sugar 'n cream

4. What color(s) are your kitchen and bath decorated in (if any)? Blue for the bathroom theres kind of a fish theme going on there. Not really anything going on in the kitchen.

5. What are your favorite colors for yarns? Least favorite? I like BRIGHT colors, '80's florescent colors! but really anything is fine. Not to big a fan of brown or black.

6. Do you like Winter, or do you count the days until it ends? I HATE winter. I just can't wait until it ends!

7. What's your favorite way to brighten your day when you're down in the dumps? Drink a latte with a friend while knitting and watching movies.

8. What is your favorite treat to indulge in and when your down in the dumps? Vanilla latte and any kind of chocolate muffin/cookie combo

9. Do you drink coffee? Tea? Cocoa? Coffee and coco I don't care for tea at all

10. If you could take a vacation starting tomorrow and go anywhere for one week and money were no object, where would you go and what would you do? Ireland to study the knitting culture and history. I'd probably need a lot more than a week..

11. Do you have any allergies or aversions your pal should be aware of? Oddly enough, big red gum gives me the hives but I don't think that is a problem with this swap!

Skein 14

I just started skein 14 of 18 on Britts blanket.I have to admit I'm getting kind of bored with it.I'm forcing myself to work on it. My goal is 3 skeins a week. I'm on my second skein for this week so I'm not doing that bad. I will admit that I started Bradys ripple last night and I have just started the 3rd skein.I think I'm going to need more yarn for his, but I'm going to use what I have first and see, although I'm pretty sure I will.I may hold off even though yarn to finish projects is allowed, and start Aryns ripple after I finish the yarn I have for Bradys because I want to play with more colors. Not to mention, variety is the spice of life! I'm using Bumpy doinks pattern: http://bumpydoink.blogspot.com/2007/06/my-ripple-pattern.html
It makes a big enough blanket to fit across your bed without having to do any math.
I love it!
I normally can't get a ripple to work (this is my first successful attempt) so if your interested in crocheting one and haven't before I highly recommend this pattern.

Feeling icky

I didn't go to work today, that's how bad it was.
I have been laying in bed knitting for most the day. I knit a short row baby hat, a pair of preemie booties and a few rows on the sleeve of long neglected tomten.I will finish it this year.I will!
I also would like to finish the wash cloth that is exactly 1/2 finished sitting beside the bed, but as long as my fancy is for tomten I think I better ride it out for as long as it lasts, given it's history.
I'm now 10 skeins in on Brits blanket 8 more to go!

That's all for now I guess,

Well, I think I'm doing well!

I have delved into my dish cloth cotton stash and produced these:

Photobucket

2 down 38 more to go!At approx 95 yards a skein that's 190 yards out of my 1000 yard goal for January.I want to knit at least 1 dish cloth a week until my dish cloth cotton is GONE. I myself think 38 skeins of dish cloth cotton a little foolish even if I do make them to sell.I'm knitting a 3rd as I'm typing this. I tend to go on sprees where I knit nothing but wash cloths for months on end.I'm hoping this is what this is.It would sure help!
I'm 9 skeins in on Brittneys blanket, 9 more to go! I'm 1/2 way there!Whoot!
I haven't set down and worked on it really, but I want to have it done by the end of the month.
I've also dug out the Babette blanket that will be for Briana next Christmas.
I have 24 of the 50 small grannys done. This may accompany me to work one day.We will see.
I've joined Secret of the stole 2, I've never knit lace before of any kind so this will be fun!
I have pegged the Lagoon yarn for a pair of crochet house socks, but I want to finish Brittneys blanket before I start them.
