It is SO soft and squishie!! I LOVE IT! The colors are amazing!!
I just placed another order 2 more for Shanmi and 2 more sasquatch sock. I had a $25 credit, I thought I'd make it worth it. Especially after my mother made me upset but let us not go there. :)

American girl doll bought for $47 at antique store holding Lime and Violet sock yarn:

I have sent the doll out for cleaning and limb reattachment. After repairs she is still $30 cheaper than buying one new off the website.
I also ordered a Blythe doll that I've wanted forever! I'll probably be receiving her next week sometime. Kit (the AG doll) will be back in a few weeks from her doll hospital stay. :)

Stupid people..(Rant no knitting, come back tomorrow)

Today I got back from lunch to 3 people waiting for fabric. My back up was there but she's new and not very fast yet so there was a small wait not to bad. So my back up finishes the order she was working on and I took back over (there is only one spot to cut fabric in our store). So I finish up and a few minuites later I get a call "Do you have anyone back there to help you if you get busy?" I respond " If I got bad I could have someone use the scanner to help create the stickers, but other than that there is only one spot to cut fabric." He says "Oh, this one lady was really upset she had to wait.". What am I supposed to do? Cut her fabric with the power of my mind? Should I shoot lasers out of my eyes and get everyone done at once? Screw her! It's not my fault she got in line 3rd. Does she think I should have taken her first even though she was in line last? God forbid she had to wait a few minuites because she spent more time making up her mind than the first 2 customers. I hate people who think they are entitled, that they shouldn't have to wait like everyone else. Don't be surprised when you get in a LINE and then have to WAIT. That is just stupid and I can't stand stupid people! Don't wine about it either! You knew perfectly well when you stepped in line that the lady in front of you was getting 10 bolts of fabric and that she was going to be waited on first because she was here first!!!
The moral of the story is: Shut up, go to the back of the line, wait and if so help me god if I hear a peep I'll cut your fabric crooked on purpose. :P

So, yea

I'm back after spending most of the day with my sister in the hospital. Long story but to sum it all up they think it's another symptom of MS and she has to go in for an MRI tomorrow. They want to compare the new MRI with one she had last year to see if the spots on her brain are bigger and if there are more of them. I'm calling in late to work to take her. Normally I wouldn't, but because of the MRI (she's very claustrophobic) they may have to sedate her blah, blah, blah, in the end I'm mostly going to support her because there's pretty much no one else to take on this role. Her BF can't drive (he's mostly blind) our parents live 1/2 hour away our other 2 sisters even further. It's nice that I'm in town and can help out like today and tomorrow.
Anyway that's pretty much all. I was able to work a couple of rounds on my tunic in the hospital and will have about 3 hours wait tomorrow to work on it some more. I just found out a good friend of mine is having a boy so I'm knitting her a few pairs of baby socks.I started one tonight and omg I forgot how fast they go. I'm almost done with the cuff on the first one and I've just barely started! :)
My aunt fixed my sewing machine last night of which I am very great full. I have 2 quilt tops ready to be pieced.

Long time no see

Lets just say I've spent to much, crafted to little and have driven my husband just a little mad.
I'm happy to report my mothers day socks are finished and I just delivered them today. Bad daughter no cookie!
I have sewn a few super cute string blocks (see quiltville.com for more info) and turned them into house blocks that are AMAZING! Totally cute. I have crochet the middle of a baby blanket, I need to do a border to finish it off. It used 2 skeins of stash yarn! WEE! That's always nice when the stash produces a project.
I have become a Yellow dog knitting Diva. It's been so long since I've posted I don't think I've mentioned it.
I think I have 7 of the fabel sock yarn colors now. I haven't started anything with it yet, but I plan on starting a pair of socks soon.
I have started a simple stripes baby sweater out of Opals tiger color way.
I have started knitting my tunic, 10 more rows I think I'll be able to start working in the round.
I think I'm up to speed now. Hopefully it won't be this long again with out a post again.

First sock syndrome??

This is what happens to me, I work for months and months (In this case since December)on the first sock then the second sock takes like 5 minuites.
Here are my mothers day socks for my mom: Moms socks

Not quite finished yet huh? The second sock takes a lot less time than the first, so hopefully I won't be to late on the M-day socks.

In the mean time I hit up Yellow Dog for some of there wonderful Fable sock yarn:

Fable sock yarn

I think I'm going to join the 52 pair plunge this year. I have plans for a lot of worsted weight wool socks for my charity project. It would be very good motivation to keep up!

On vacation

Hubby and I have taken the last 4 days off together. One more day and I need to go back ,the only good thing about that is that I start fabrics on Thursday!! YAY!

Along the lines of good news is I finished the c-2-c blankie and a crochet shell c-2-c blanket. I've also finished a preemie gown and a doll blanket.
I have worked on the Log Cabin blanket a bit some to.

I have cut out all of the small pieces for a queen sized double wedding ring quilt.
The only problem is that the chair I got to sit in while quilting is mega not comfortable at all and it hurts to sew. Ya, it's going back tomorrow and I'm up grading.

I'm working on some preemie items and I want to design some of my own so I'm buying this pattern: http://dollnetmarket.com/shop/product.php?productid=119&cat=6&page=1
To help me with my proportions.

We also took a walk down by the lake and talked about super heros. He taught me about Venom :).

The first time he saw me knitting was the first time I met his parents. I had met him at his apartment and we were taking his car. I worked on my moms mothers day socks that year. He thought I was odd, but good enough to stick with I guess.... :)

2 years later, a bunch of ups and downs. Still in love.

Huge stash buster!

scrap afghan

This is what I have been working on and has been a giant time suck,I couldn't take myself away from it, but has also taken up a couple thousand yards of stash. The brown in between color rows took up almost 3 super saver skeins that are 364 yards each.It is big enough to cover the top of our queen sized bed. All of the color rows are scrap balls so I don't know how many yards in all.The yarn I made this out of filled up a laundry basket. I still have well over 1/2 left over.

I'm giving this afghan to my friend Marci. It was her birthday on April 9 so I'm a little late. She was born a hippy, she will love this!

I have started another scrap afghan ,left overs from the other blanket, making panels and when there done I'll be crocheting them together. :)
I don't know who I'll gift the next one to. I'm trying to clear out to get some more room in here!!!

I started a baby sweater on size 1's with baby ull in pale purple and pink with white ribbing. It is so tiny and cute! I found out another girl at work is pregnant so add her to the list of 4+ people who are expecting that I know.

I worked on the c-2-c blanket today. I finished the last skein of yellow. 1 more green and it will be time to work an edging. I think a baby sweater and blanket for each is good. Maybe a pair of baby socks. Or a hat. I love babies!

Dear Cranky old lady,

I do not give a rats ass that you waited 17 minutes (more like 10) on the phone today while I had a line out to soft lines before I could get to you. I don't care if you want to "Give me a talking to" when you come in for your $4.80 that you were overcharged on your reduced bakery items. For the record I'm not a "Young lady" you bitch and you can shove those cinnamon rolls up your ass. I hope you choke on them.

Sincerely,
Your Customer Service Representative

So you don't have stuff

This title is inspired by my brother in law Greg that I was talking with on Monday night. Me in reference to some fabric I had found in my stash: "I have so much stuff I don't know what I have anymore." Greg in rebuttal: "So you don't have stuff, you have shit" Me: "Basically".

I have been cleaning out my fabric, finding the stuff I've forgotten and cutting it up for my sister for her birthday because she loves to sew, but doesn't have the time to cut up all the squares.A lot of this stuff I still like, but not love enough to keep in the stash.I found the fabric I was collecting for a double wedding ring quilt.I really want to go to the fabric store next week, but I think I'll put it off for another week, and if I'm good I'll get to go. It's almost an hour drive to the good quilt shop (the one that doesn't think all young people are evil) so it has to be a pay week. There's a yarn shop on the way and they have some cool sock yarn I want to try.I need to cut up a few more yards tonight and tomorrow. I'm trying to keep the fabric stash confined to it's tote,it's overflowing a bit right now. Must beat it back!

I'm 2/3 of the way done with my scrap afghan. Not nearly enough yarn is gone. :(
I'll be doing at least 3 more of these hopefully this year. I have started a tessellating fish afghan for my nephew for Christmas '08. His favorite color is orange, so this blanket is orange and yellow goldfish! I had to buy the yarn $20 on 10 skeins of bernat softee chunky. I will need more yellow. I think I'll get 3 fish out of one skein. I've knit 2, they take about 45 minutes each.

I received the elusive Trekking color 100 that I have been wanting for 3 years now.

I also received some pencil roving and some lace weight that SMELLS SO GOOD!!!

I have been playing with the Dots blanket pattern in the newest spring Interweave Crochet.

I completed a dishcloth yesterday at the laundromat and started another.

The corner to corner blanket is banished to the corner for being boring. Not the blankets fault. I just need to get some good movies going.

I have been experimenting with dying yarn with easter egg dye. I've done 2 skeins and they have turned out well. I'm knitting a scarf with them alternating skeins and it looks awesome.

I haven't touched the sock since I blogged last.

I think I'm going to knit another fish...

What I'm acually going to do:

Knit another burp cloth.
finish the c-2-c baby blanket
use 2 skeins from the stash
10 squares for one of my afghans

The c-2-c blanket itself is going to take forever!
I've also started a garter stitch afghan out of old stash acrylic, not sure if it will be panels or log-cabin-esque.

Adding a few more things

I realize today, that I may have made it a bit to easy on my self last night.Last night I ripped the ripple, and crochet 10 squares for my cotton granny. The burp cloth is less than 5" from completion. That only leaves 2 things left, both could be finished within the week. The point is for it to last for 3 weeks until the next pay check comes around.
So I add (complete list) :
Finish current socks,I'm on the foot of the first one.
Make 2 somethings off my ravelry queue.
Make 10 more squares for one of my afghans.
Knit another burp cloth.
Cast on for Sprout, an Amy King design in stashed cotton ease.
finish the 1/2 finished c-2-c baby blanket
knit 4 washcloths

I'm back to trying to pair down the cotton stash. Soon it will be summer and small things will take over the big. So I'll be trying to knit one wash cloth a week again. The burp clothes are being knit from a cone of peaches 'n cream. I think I can get at least 3 out of the cone. Then maybe I'll pair up some of my solids and make some stripy cloths, because knitting plain dish cloths boars me to tears, and I don't know why knowing this I bought them anyway.I have a cone of ecru, and about 6 skeins of different solids, so that's a lot of burp cloths!I like the pattern because it's simple enough to do while reading, watching tv etc. but interesting enough to not make you want to throw it in the river if your knitting it just to be knitting.
It is really nice out today, I have the screen door open for the first time in months airing out the apartment. I got my laundry done for the week, had a latte and knit on my socks waiting at the laundromat watching the price of gas go up. It is now $3.27 per gallon. Glad I filled up yesterday at $3.23 . :(
The hubby and I have been car pooling, thank god we work at the same place and relatively the same hours or we would be very broke. Hence my wip/stash obsession until I can buy new yarn. That and I get my yearly raise starting April 2nd, so I really want to treat myself with that first check and not feel guilty about it.
After I finish my list I figure I've used approximately $60 worth of yarn, so I can spend that much, maybe. I'm hoping to way over shoot my goal. After all I do have 3 weeks and a lot of those projects only take a day or so...

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

So tired!

But I do have progress! I have knit almost half a corner to corner baby blanket using lion brand cupcake in lemon drop and pistachio. I also exchanged some yarn today to make a miter blanket for the couch. I'll need tons more, but 10 skeins will give me a good start. I'm using bazic wool in 10 colors. I have also knit more than half of a baby genius burp cloth. I should finish that tomorrow...
I have plenty of progress, but no FO's. Maybe next week. I did really good for about a week knitting on the c-2-c faithfully, as well as my sock (currently on the gusset), then I started the BGBC, and all hell broke loose, and I haven't touched it in a few days now.
I want to order some of the new colors of sock yarn from Knit Picks, like 5 of them.
First I MUST:
Finish c-2-c blanket
finish burp cloth
crochet 10 more squares for one of my blankets.
knit 4 more dish cloths.
rip the cotton ripple

There, 5 goals for 10 skeins of yarn, that's not to unreasonable to do before ordering new yarn. And it will give me time to save the money needed in like 2 paychecks. No ramen for me!
